After extensive research and abundant, heartfelt deliberation, the MYC Sailing School has decided to cancel all sailing classes for the summer of 2020. As everyone can imagine, this was a very difficult decision to make.
Our number one priority has always been the safety of our young sailors and our instructional staff. To be sure, the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly magnified the importance of conducting our programs in a safe and responsible manner. The appropriate or required preventative measures such as limited class sizes, social-distancing, staff training, equipment sanitization and daily health documentation are simply too cumbersome for us to consistently and confidently accomplish.
While it is too early to predict what 2021 will look like, we are already busy gathering information and studying the experiences of other programs around the country to identify and prepare for what our sailing school programs might look like next summer. Thanks to everyone for your patience and support!
The registration form link below is a PDF file. Please print it, fill out all the information, sign it, and submit it with your payment to the mailing or email address on the form.
We also offer the option to pay on-line via the following link. Please select “Sailing School” from the Choose Account menu, enter your name, and enter the student’s name and class dates in the message window. Click “Pay Now” and then enter the amount you are paying on the next page. If you pay on-line, you still need to submit your completed and signed registration form to the mailing or email address on the registration form.
Michigan State Law regarding Concussion Awareness took effect in the summer of 2013. Parents of all our students are now required to also read, sign and submit a Concussion Awareness Form to the MYC Sailing School. The Registration Form above already includes the Concussion Awareness Form. The Concussion Awareness Form by itself can be downloaded and/or printed from the link below.
Reminder: all students need to wear a swim suit and bring a life jacket to class. A few life jackets are available for those who do not own one. We also encourage you to send a bottle of water with your child.
